Abstract

PRADO, José Enrique Llamazares de  and  ARIAS-GAGO, Ana Rosa. A Systematic Review of Mathematics Education for Blind Students: the importance of STEAM in current school curricula. Ciência educ. [online]. 2021, vol.27, e21018.  Epub May 05, 2021. ISSN 1980-850X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1516-731320210018.

The objective of this paper is to provide an analysis of mathematics knowledge among visually impaired students, by using a systematic review - proposing analyses on the relation of mathematics and the use of ICT and its adaptation to education - of 416 articles, with a final selection of 37 articles published between 1998 and 2020. The study was conducted using nine databases: ScienceDirect, 1Findr, Dialnet, Eric, Redalyc, Scopus, Google Scholar, Teacher Reference, and Wos. In the methodology, a systematic review was performed, using the manager Mendeley to store the references. The results show the need for family/school cooperation and for the integration of the subjects in the STEAM model. The discussion and conclusion highlight the importance of mathematical development among students in order to improve thought processing and problem solving.
