Abstract

PINTO, José Antonio Ferreira  and  SILVA, Cibelle Celestino. Nature of Science in education: between academic research and official standards for basic education. Ciência educ. [online]. 2021, vol.27, e21056.  Epub Oct 26, 2021. ISSN 1980-850X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1516-731320210056.

Based on the results brought about by academic research on the importance of implementing aspects of nature of science (NOS) in science curricula, in this paper, we analyze whether NOS elements are present in official documents that govern middle education. The National Curriculum Parameters for High School, the New National Curriculum Guidelines for Basic Education, and the Common National Curriculum Base were analyzed. The analysis was carried out using content analysis and the construction of location and inclusion parameters based on whole science. Despite being a relevant theme in scientific research events in the area with many publications, official documents do not explicitly refer to nature of science, making only superficial mentions to discussions about sciences and their characteristics.

Keywords : Nature of science; Official documents; Secondary school.
