COSTA, Jéssica Gomes das Mercês  e  CARMO, Edinaldo Medeiros. Curriculum development in Bahia and the school subject of Science: focus on integrative themes. Ciência educ. [online]. 2022, vol.28, e22057.  Epub 17-Nov-2022. ISSN 1980-850X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1516-731320220057.

This paper aims to analyze further implications and new ways of reading the Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC), National Common Core Curriculum), that resulted in the Documento Curricular Referencial da Bahia (DCRB), Bahia’s Reference Curriculum Document, and how it affects the school subject of Science. After the BNCC's approval, the construction of secondary texts that aid its implementation in states and cities began; therefore, in Bahia, the DCRB was constructed. As a result of the analysis of the texts, it was possible to observe the permanence and rupture of different discourses and configurations resulting from new ways of reading the BNCC. Thereby, the DCRB highlights important issues that have been repressed or minimized in the BNCC. In this scenario, the school subject of Science, as represented in the DCRB, advocates wide, meaningful teaching that provides students with a wholesome education.
