SILVA, Anderson Thiago Monteiro da; FRANCA, Suzane Bezerra de  y  NEVES, Ricardo Ferreira das. The BioArt of Francisco Brennand Ceramic Workshop Institute: a study of the contributions to teaching and learning in Biological Sciences through the mediator’s perspective. Ciência educ. [online]. 2023, vol.29, e23038.  Epub 20-Sep-2023. ISSN 1980-850X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1516-731320230038.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the contributions of BioArt (interdisciplinary productions combining biology and art) to science and biology teaching and learning processes at the Francisco Brennand Ceramic Workshop Institute. Thus, according to Bardin's perspective, field research was conducted with social actors among the Institute's staff who participated in structured interviews that were videotaped, transcribed, and subjected to content analysis. Several BioArt components were found to be naturally related to the artist's ceramic works, which integrate a wide range of biological contents and topics, such as anatomy, botany, and ecology, in the museum's creative facilities. Thus, BioArt is a part of Brennand's legacy that can be used for teaching and learning in the biological sciences. Finally, the findings in this study are expected to promote science education in non-formal spaces, such as museums and science centers.
