Construction of a matrix for analyzing children’s literature for scientific and environmental education purposes. Ciência educ. [online]. 2023, vol.29, e23055.  Epub 06-Nov-2023. Children’s literature (CL) is important for the development of the field because it encourages critical thinking and reflection. It can also contextualize elements of environmental education (EE) and advance scientific literacy (SL). We believe it is possible to seek literature that can aid in the early stages of the SL and EE processes in terms of cultural expansion for the child, but how do we know if that or another piece of literature can aid in this process? We specifically designed a literature analysis matrix with this bias for this purpose. Furthermore, we believe that text analysis demonstrates that the teacher is motivated to promote students' understanding of science and its social acceptance. We understand that, when teachers analyze a text, they manage to recognize that, at the rate they are interested in stimulating an understanding of science and its recognition in social spaces, CL can be explored without having to use it didactically, as a likely enhancement of student access to culture, including the culture of science.
