SANTOS, Paulo Gabriel Franco dos. Theoretical-methodological perspectives for the study of racism and anti-racism in science education: materialist, historical, and dialectical foundations. Ciência educ. [online]. 2024, vol.30, e24038. Epub 07-Out-2024. ISSN 1980-850X. https://doi.org/10.1590/1516-731320240038.
Given the topicality and pertinence of the race debate in science education, this article presents a theoretical framework for understanding and analyzing related issues from the perspective of historical and dialectical materialism. It is based on the observation that the underrepresentation, low participation, and alienation of black people in the productive contexts of the sciences are the result of the historical conformation of the productive and ideological processes of contemporary society, whose determinations are analyzed from the theoretical unity of colonialism-capitalism-racism. In this sense, the dimension of the problem is presented from this theoretical perspective, and the Work-Education-Science (WES) relationship is proposed as an analytical unit that contributes to the explanation of current racial issues and sheds light on the political function of science education to overcome them.
