IARED, Valéria Ghisloti  e  VENTURI, Tiago. Walking ethnography in environmental and health education: The quest for rigor and legitimacy in qualitative research in education. Ciência educ. [online]. 2024, vol.30, e24040.  Epub 07-Out-2024. ISSN 1980-850X.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1516-731320240040.

Qualitative research in education, especially in environmental and health education, requires a distinct approach to inquiry that departs from the positivist and Cartesian methodologies based on verbal and textual descriptions. To gain a deeper understanding of phenomena at an experiential and affective level, it is necessary to consider new elements such as corporeality, aesthetics, and body-spirit-world articulations. This essay aims to reflect on walking ethnography's theoretical and philosophical foundations in educational research to establish an interface between environmental and health education. Conducting walking ethnography allows for the examination of how ontology, epistemology, and methodology interrelate. This approach allows for an exploration of the factors that support new opportunities for educational research in Brazil. The discussion also highlights the potential for integrating environmental and health education and the implications for teacher training.
