SILVA, Cleberson Souza da e CAVALCANTI, Eduardo Luiz Dias. Classification, methodological approach and objectives of research on RPG in science education: A bibliographic study of theses and dissertations. Ciência educ. [online]. 2024, vol.30, e24044. This paper aimed to analyze theses and dissertations defended between 2007 and 2023 in Brazil, focusing on the classification, methodological approach, and objectives of RPG on Science Education research, and pointing out perspectives for new research. To this end, we conducted a bibliographical search, through which 49 works were found. The study of these theses and dissertations, based on the content analysis technique, was carried out through analysis of categories, which revealed information about the classifications of RPG games, the methodological approach that had been used, and the objectives of each study. With this investigation, we noted that the use of live-action and digital RPG adventures needs to be encouraged, as well as qualitative research that uses perspectives such as action research and participatory research. In addition, new research involving RPG and science education needs to aim at scientific literacy, the dissemination of science, and its use in non-formal educational spaces.
