SILVA, Monica Ribeiro da; KRAWCZYK, Nora Rut  y  CALCADA, Guilherme Eduardo Camilo. Youth, New High School and formative paths: what state-level education systems propose in their curricula. Educ. Pesqui. [online]. 2023, vol.49, e271803.  Epub 25-Sep-2023. ISSN 1678-4634.  https://doi.org/10.1590/s1678-4634202349271803por.

The high school reform through Act No. 13415/17 organizes the curriculum by dividing the academic load between common education and a variety of training itineraries in order to create a more attractive curriculum for the young. In view of the provisions set forth in this legal framework and complementary norms, state education systems have made changes to the curricula for this basic education level. The purpose of this paper is to publicize the results of a study that analyzed the curriculum proposals of the 16 Brazilian states that had finalized the adjustment by December 2021. It also discusses such proposals from the perspective of the relationship between youth and education. It is a documentary study with a qualitative approach. At first, access to high school is contextualized and the current reform proposes are discussed, considering aspects that characterize young people at this educational level. Based on this preliminary discussion, the curriculum proposals are analyzed, especially in terms how the formative paths are composed, highlighting the proposals that are central in order to debate the training project they present. The conclusions reveal a wide range of curricular formats and the possibility that a fragmented and shortened education may be introduced, which is quite far from young people’s educational needs for living in society, for their entry into the workplace or for their access to higher education.
