The objective of this original study was to know the socioeconomic, training, and professional profile of the students of the Degree in Countryside Education at the Federal University of Piaui - (UFPI), Campus de Teresina, and to suggest actions to guarantee their access, their permanence, and your success. This is relevant research, as the knowledge of the students’ profile, of the social reality in which they live, contributes to the production of information that can be used as subsidies for the (re)planning of administrative and pedagogical actions, in a situated way. The universe investigated by the research was composed of 98 students of the Degree in Education of the Countryside of UFPI, campus of Teresina. Data were obtained through the application of a questionnaire during the 2019/2 school year. The results point to the need to structure and develop, in partnership with students, teachers and organized social movements, a public policy of student assistance that guarantees conditions of access, permanence and completion of the course, in order to guarantee the sustainability of the Degree in Countryside Education as a permanent and sustainable public policy.
