This article aims to present the theoretical contributions, based on the new historiographic approaches, of the subject of History of Education. This subject is commonly questioned by the students for its mostly theoretical nature. However, it can be introduced through a number of different methodologies; in this case, the use of examples connected with everyday life and local history was the chosen form. The History of Education field has been proved to be increasingly more valuable at each published research. The encouragement to pedagogical practices based on documentation and other sources related to history of education, without necessarily using only one manual, is needed. Practical examples, applied in classes within Pedagogy major during the last few years, will be brought into use in different higher education institutions. Finally, the reintroduction of the Brazilian education history focusing local and regional aspects represents a distinctive action in the use and analysis of the contents.
