The text objectives to present some contributions of virtual archives to the history of education based on our experience of localization and election of sources from the virtual archive Livres. It contains copies of Brazilian school books since 1810 up to now. We hope this text can elucidate how other researches can be aided by the use of Livres as a space full of historical sources. It can offers sources and references, by means of recuperation of texts and collection of documents about didactics production, legislation, curricular programs, editorial catalogs, etc.
