Abstract

The assessment as an investigation practice provides a processing, systematic and dynamic view on students and teachers’ mathematical activities, and the analysis of written work may be a strategy for its implantation. The objective of this paper is to show some works on Assessment in Mathematics Education and the potentialities of analysis of written work in order to investigate students and teachers’ mathematical activities, to provide teachers with elements necessary for Mathematics Teacher Education, to analyze students’ errors, and to study the role of the context in assessment problems. We point out examples to work in class and possibilities of other investigations within this theme.
