Abstract

CASULO, José Carlos de Oliveira. A educação do oficialato castrense no Reino Unido de Portugal, Brasil e Algarves no regulamento de 1816 do Real Colégio Militar da Luz. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2009, n.26, pp.09-18. ISSN 1519-3993.

With the first Napoleonic invasion of Portugal, in 1808, both the King and the Court moved to Brazil, where they would, in 1815, found the United Kingdom of Portugal and Brazil and Algarves. In 1816, to consolidate the new United Kingdom, John the VI launched the foundation of a joint education for officers that would serve both the Portuguese and the Brazilian armies as part of the laws of the Royal Military College of Luz. This article investigates aspects of these laws that refer to the Teachers and Students Statute, as well as to the curricula and other educacional activities.
