The crise of identity and value of school institution made necessary to verify the importance of art practice - in a not educational space - as a mediator of inclusion process of people in risk conditions. The Arte no Dique Institute, situated at Santos suburb, works with dwellers of Dique da Vila Gilda slum with emphasis in educative practice of children and teenagers who are members of Querô percussion band. A study of qualitative approach was realized using the dialectic perspective. The researched people revealed the cultural expression search by the art practice in a meaningful way of autonomy construction to promote historical changes and conquer of citizen rights. The necessity of a bigger school opening to different pedagogic practices is evident and to not formal educational spaces.
