Abstract

In order to identify the results achieved by research on nine year elementary school program , we have developed mapping literature, taking as a corpus dissertations of the National Postgraduate Program in Education, between 2006 and 2010. The results of the analyses of 27 investigations indicate that the majority has focused on the views and actions of teachers and managers, with few addressing the views of children and their families. The studies give priority to the acquisition processes of reading and writing, children and policy implementation. They point to major problems of the nine year elementary school program; teachers’ lack of official documents to guide their work with six-year-old children s the lack of pedagogical reform of schools, the need for continuing education and the structuring of pedagogical work due to the centrality of literacy.
