This work, based on recent research on deafness, argues on the possibilities offered by cognitive science when applied to problems of accessibility in the context of Distance Education. Based on the importance of the image in the process of literacy of deaf people and the relationship between sign language and Portuguese for their development as readers , the creation of a software to automatize aspects of the interaction via the Internet is of basic importance for the autonomy and proficiency of this population of readers. This work justifies and presents the elements central to a software that would make the “translation” of a content; and for this , the necessary facial expressions and the signs would be simulated to guarantee the representation of the vocables catalogued in the dictionaries of Libras.
