The caring for and educating children in the educational setting has been marked by several debates in the scientific community and the political sphere since the actions that emanate from institutional care in these environments interfere on the child’s development. This research, bibliographic in nature, aimed to analyze how the scientific production of the dissertations, from postgraduate programs in Psychology, address this issue and what are the ideas behind the concept of caring for and educating, after the release of the National Curriculum for Early Childhood Education. It had as its source the database of Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel. It was found that Psychology somehow is a more pedagogical than actually psychological phenomenon, its focus was the teacher’s pedagogical action instead of the relationship established within. Attributed to better training of primary teachers is considered more important to promote psychological health of children, giving teachers´ great responsibility and ignoring the complex network of relationships that characterize these spaces.
