Abstract

NOGARO, Arnaldo  and  EIDT, Paulino. Ethical and educational practice in a liquid society . Educ. Puc. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.2, pp.155-165. ISSN 1519-3993.  https://doi.org/10.1590/edpuc20n201508.

This article results from reflections and considerations about the educator's ethical commitment to education in the postmodern liquid society. Encouraged by thoughts of authors and theorists such as Zygmunt Bauman, Hannah Arendt, Aristóteles, Alípio Casali, Paulo Freire , and others, we sought to broach the ethical task of the 21st century educator, seeking evidence for the urgency of developing virtues that can support the teacher's work in a society where nothing is made to last: everything is made to fade away, be revoked, undervalued by the fluidity and liquidity of where we live. To accomplish the aim of the study, we structured it on three basic axis: ethics and its surroundings; ethics and the liquid society: what remains?; educating and self-educating for the practice of virtue. We conclude pointing to a possible direction in order to realize teacher's ethical compromise.

Keywords : Ethics; Liquid society; Values..
