ESQUINSANI, Rosimar Serena Siqueira  and  ESQUINSANI, Valdocir Antonio. Professional culture and continuing education of teachers: A case study. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.3, pp.241-249. ISSN 1519-3993.  https://doi.org/10.0000/edpuc.2015.203.241.

Considering that learning is the principle of professional culture for teachers, the aim of the study is to discuss activities for the continuing education of teachers. For that purpose, we discuss the repercussion of academic events focused on teacher training and the relationship of these events with the professional culture inherent to the teaching profession. This study is part of a documentary research and the data were collected from the public school system in the state of Rio Grande do Sul/Brazil over a period of eighteen years (1997-2014). The data show that the debate on learning and professional culture of teachers is significant. Thus, it may be concluded that continuing education is the principle of professional culture and it promotes the discussion on learning from the point of view of those who have to teach.
