Educating and caring are inseparable and indispensable tasks in a society with different social realities and in need of specific health assistance, particularly schoolchildren. It is imperative to discuss and understand the Programa Saúde na Escola as a tool for the learning, development and growth of schoolchildren from the concepts of health and education to rethink teaching practices in health and education. The objective of this study is to value the role of health and education at school through the Programa Saúde na Escola from the perspective of comprehensive care. This qualitative and documental study analyzed official documents from the Ministério da Saúde e da Educação. The analysis was conducted through content analysis. The connection between health and education is essential in the contemporary society, which is why the School Health Program is a strategy that promotes education and health.
