The moral development of students is the result of a process. Schools and professionals play an important role in this process because it is believed that students build concepts related to moral when encountering different environmental conditions and experiences at school. The aim of the article was to analyze the conceptions of professionals who work at the municipal school system of municipalities in South Plateau region of Santa Catarina on how to morally educate and their understanding of the practices and challenges related to this process. This is an exploratory and qualitative research. A questionnaire with open and closed questions was used for data collection. From the data collected we found that the professionals surveyed believe their role to be important for the moral development of students and their practice is focused on different strategies for this purpose.
