The aim of the article was to analyze the contributions of the educator Paulo Freire to curriculum proposals for Adult and Youth Education within the critical curriculum theory, emphasizing the curricular perspectives of adult and youth education in Brazil from its infancy to the current trends. The issue becomes problematic with the analysis of the curriculum guidelines according to the subdivisions of the humanistic conception of education in the light of Freire's vision that argues that schools should humanize human beings and set them free from the ideological process to which we are all subjected. Therefore, the main objective was to seek and expand the results of reflections on the importance of building curriculum content to ensure the education and emancipation of adults and the youth, placing this curriculum evolution as necessary step for the construction and consolidation of political pedagogical projects in all Brazilian schools that offer this type of education.
