Resumen

LEAO, Gabriel Bertozzi de Oliveira e Sousa; SOFIATO, Cássia Geciauskas  y  OLIVEIRA, Margarete de. Images for the education of deaf students: Uses in formal and informal educational spaces. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.1, pp.51-63. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/P1519-3993-2017220100004.

The aim of the study is to discuss the use of images in formal and non-formal educational spaces for deaf student’s individuals, focusing on the proposals that may be developed in basic education schools and art museums. We present some possibilities regarding the reading of images, aiming at enhancing the pedagogical practices related to those individuals in the above-mentioned spaces. In order to do so, we conducted an exploratory bibliographic research. Based on authors such as Quadros, 2005, Burke, 2004, Thoma et al., 2014, Reily, 2003-2004, and others, who have investigated Arts and education for deaf students people, the image is considered a possibility that goes beyond a simplified use, as it has a great narrative and pedagogical potential for the deaf students people. We understand that the image is also an important didactic resource for their education, as it helps them with the process of literacy and acquisition of new content in different areas of knowledge. It may be inferred that there are several possible interventions regarding the reading of images with deaf students students within the educational context, both in schools and museums; and constant educational program for professionals who work in those spaces is important to improve their use of images.
