In this article we share results from a research that aimed to understand the training processes with a group of students in a Pedagogy course. Those students participated in an outreach project in which we considered the everyday school life as a formative space, as an object of study, to reflect on the organization of educational work in school. The students also participated in two other formative spaces in addition to that activity: a research project developed at Elementary and Early Childhood Education schools and an outreach program offered to teachers at district public schools. Based on the analysis of the students’ written work, we discuss the potential and contributions of the research to think about the development of those students as future teachers. This socio-historical orientation research assumes a dialogical perspective when it promotes the training of all those who are part of it. The research results indicate the importance of students taking an investigative attitude, inquiring what was experienced to better understand it, considering the practice of writing as one of the foundations for reflection and production of knowledge, recognizing the value of collective work, such as the sharing of written productions and experiences.
