CABRAL, Leonardo Santos Amâncio. Inclusion of Special Education’s target audience in Brazilian Higher Education: History, policies and practices. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.3, pp.371-387. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/P1519-3993-2017220300004.

This study aims to assemble, systematize and analyze the production of knowledge in the field of Special Education over the last ten years (2006-2016), specifically regarding the inclusion of the target audience of Special Education in higher education institutions. This systematic review of the literature is supported by the integrative literature review methodology. The research was conducted in open source databases, namely: Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior, Scientific Electronic Library Online, Periódicos Eletrônicos de Psicologia, Literatura Científica e Técnica da América Latina e Caribe e Centro Latino-Americano e do Caribe de Informação em Ciências da Saúde. As a result, the elements identified were divided into five main areas, namely: (1) Political access and permanence; (2) Academic life of the student of the target audience of Special Education; (3) Identification and Identity of the student of the target audience of Special Education; (4) Construction of inclusive culture; and 5-prohibitive issues for Permanence and Academic Success. The correlations between the elements that emerged revealed that under the inclusive perspective there should not be centrality of the actors, environments or strategies in the process of constructing a university culture. This indicates that it is time to transcend the isolated practices within the university context and evaluate carefully our actions that focus only on the difficulties of Special Education students’.
