Abstract
PINA, Ana Paula Batista; MULLER, Fernanda and PINTO, Viviane Fernandes Faria. Content analysis of academic papers on early childhood education assessment (1996-2015). Educ. Puc. [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.3, pp.475-496. ISSN 2318-0870. https://doi.org/10.24220/P1519-3993-2017220300010.
The article analyzes the academic production in major Brazilian scientific platforms on assessment in Early Childhood Education. The study applied the Laurence Bardi’s method of content analysis to consider production from 1996 to 2015. Data was classified into four categories of analysis. It suggests that the scholarship on assessment in Early Childhood Education is still scarce, but on the rise, especially within the educational field. Other addressed points are the multiple focuses encountered on the issues of assessment and Early Childhood Education. The studies are based on both aspects of micro context, such as registration and pedagogical documentation of the child, and the use of standardized scales and tests that aim to evaluate children’s development in matters of macro context, such as environmental, institutional and educational quality assessments. Finally, the article also points out that to build a better understanding for the subjects that are directly influenced by it (teachers, children, families, and administrative staff), this issue requires a broader discussion.
