PLACCO, Vera Maria Nigro de Souza et al. The responsibility of the school in view of manifestations of aggressiveness: The view through social networks. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2018, vol.23, n.2, pp.223-236. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v23n2a3929.

This article reports a research into the social representations (Serge Moscovici) based on the dissemination of a video on social media that depicts a child throwing objects in a room in October 2015 in Macaé, Rio de Janeiro. The repercussion of the video was enormous as it was also covered by television channels. Thus, we endeavored to understand the theories developed by different people for what they were seeing in those images. Therefore, the analysis focused on the readers’ comments on the video, placing them in four pre-established categories in accordance with Yves Lenoir’s conceptions of responsibility: common, internal, (strong) external sense of profound self and weak external sense. The results revealed that responsibility is mostly centered on the mother and on the child’s inability to distinguish what is socially acceptable. Paradoxically, while considering the child’s inability to make this distinction, the comments advocate for sanctions. Another representation, although less present, is the so-called weak external sense, in which the student must also receive a sanction, but it is based on self-correction and self-transformation from an inter-relational social perspective. To overcome this ethical impasse, human beings – teachers, students, parents and readers – must develop ethical learning (Josep Maria Puig).
