Abstract

SILVA, Ezir George  and  ROHR, Ferdinand. Confidence and failure in education: Queries regarding teaching practice. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2018, vol.23, n.2, pp.291-309. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v23n2a3986.

The research addresses the debates on education, human education and pedagogical practice. According to Otto Friedrich Bollnow, the research consists of examining the possible interaction between stable and unstable phenomena of life structures and educational processes based on the presuppositions of the Philosophy of Existence and Philosophy of Hope. On the one hand, the goal is to question the specificities of the re-production of school failure in an era of mistrust and, on the other, to rank the possibilities of a pedagogy of hope. In terms of problematization, the question is as follows: is the principle of continuity really the necessary presupposition for any and all education? The aim of the discussion is to investigate the relationship between confidence and failure in education and its queries regarding teaching practice by presenting a dialogue between the categories of discontinuity and continuity, their demands and implications for the development of a hopeful education when there is confidence in the educating subject, and the core of all pedagogical practice that seeks the humanization of men in their educational processes. From a methodological point of view, we chose the hermeneutic-ontological reflection, since we understand that it is focused on the interpretive treatment of information and theoretical contributions as it seeks to unveil the structures of the development of education and establishes an intimate relationship between the educator and the educating subject.
