MAGALHAES, Cleidilene Ramos et al. Formation of professors and health professionals to promote self-regulation in childhood health. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2018, vol.23, n.3, pp.425-437. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v23n3a4137.

The theme of self-regulation of learning in the context of promoting self-care in health is addressed. This is a qualitative study. Its objectives were: (a) to carry out a training program with Primary Care professionals, participants in the Health in School Program and teachers of Elementary School in the south of Brazil, on the subject of self-care in health; b) follow the intervention in self-regulation in health, conducted by the teachers and health professionals participating in the training, together with 5th year students, adopting as a reference the self-regulation of learning. Thirty-five professionals participated: dentists, nurses, nursing technicians and community health agents; teachers, supervisor, educational counselors, and a vice-principal. Developed in two phases: (1) training of teachers and health professionals to promote health self-regulation in the fields of healthy eating and oral health in schoolchildren; (2) intervention for the promotion of self-regulation in health among students of the 5th year of Elementary School, by the teachers and professionals who carried out the training. Both steps are described in this study. The school’s professors and health professionals were involved in the training and development of the intervention in the purpose of becoming self-regulators and modelers of daily practices in the school. This subsidized them for the use of methodologies that provided learning to learn and the use of self-regulating strategies in the classroom. The children participating in this study were able to plan, execute and evaluate in other situations and stories of everyday life, organizing coherent objectives for the activities and developing the competence to transpose the learning about the processes of self-regulation for other domains. The study shows promise for self-regulation in the field of health and training of educators, especially in childhood.
