The aim of this article is to defend the discussion strategy based on moral dilemmas to address problems related to conflicts among schoolchildren. The strategy, first proposed by Moshe Blatt and Lawrence Kohlberg in 1975, highlights the role of cognitive conflict in the process of inducing moral development. This article, however, proposes to recover the intersubjective dimension of this strategy, revealing the social bias of conflicts. Thus, the thesis is confirmed that the strategy is positive for approaching conflicts in school. To do so, some key concepts of Lawrence Kohlberg’s and Jürgen Habermas’ theories are addressed, emphasizing the intersection of their thought. From the educational implications that derive from this intersection, we reflect upon their application to the dimension of conflicts among students in the school community. Finally, it is understood that discussing dilemmas, in a privileged institutional place, to promote conflicts that drive moral development, favor the communicative action and the coordination of perspectives lead to the recognition of others and, therefore, to moral development.
