The aim of this article is to point out the field of tension between the Brazilian legal scope referring to juveniles under socio-educational corrective measures and, on the other hand, its normativity in the field of school education. It is a qualitative study based on documentary sources. Four official sources are briefly discussed: Law n° 8,069/1990 – Statute of the Child and Adolescent; Law n° 12,594/2012, which regulates the National Socio-Educational Assistance System; the National Socio-Educational Assistance Plan: Guidelines and Operational Criteria for National Socio-Educational Assistance System of 2013; and the National Guidelines for school attendance of adolescents and young people under socio-educational corrective measures of 2015. Following this discussion, the political and historical context in the field of public policies focused on this segment is presented, and finally, questions are discussed regarding the difficulties of inclusion of these young people in formal schooling. It may be concluded that the measures cannot be implemented in isolation, since they should be supported by integrated actions that affect different social areas.
