Considering the historiography of educational policy, this article discusses Vidal Didonet’s experience and trajectory in management from the 1970s to the 1990s, accompanying his political-educational path and focusing on how he constituted himself as a public and intellectual figure in the area of early childhood education. We analyzed unexplored documents belonging to the Coordination of Childhood Education archives. The analytical resource drew from history of education, emphasizing the development of public educational policies and looking at Didonet´s trajectory next to the circulation of different subjects within this scenario. This analytical set was centered on moments of change and/or observable increase in government actions, be it in official publications in this period and area, or in its ways of articulation with other contexts, such as the academic, the practical, and the public sphere one, considering the different levels of power. Despite his importance in the area as the first Coordinator in the Ministry of Education, there is scarce research about his career and the trajectory of educational policy or the history of early childhood education in the period.
