ZIMMERMANN, Tânia Regina  y  SOCORRO, Anselmo Silva. School trajectories in integrated High School Education: An analysis of the attribution of meanings of young students through thematic oral history. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2020, vol.25, e204581.  Epub 11-Dic-2019. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v25e2020a4581.

This article stems from the current challenges of Brazilian high school regarding the distant relationship of many young people with school, marked by tension and high students dropout rates. In this investigation we interviewed 11 students from Instituto Federal do Mato Grosso do Sul - Coxim Integrated High School, of whom, we selected 4 for this article. The institution was selected because of its good infrastructure, teachers with a high level of education and, in counterpoint, high dropout rates. The objective of this study was to understand the young students’ school trajectories, as well as to analyze the meanings attributed to the school experience in the integrated High School of the institution. The narratives were reviewed in a descriptive way, based on the methodology of thematic oral history, through which we established a dialogue between the students' narratives and the theoretical interlocutors. Among the dropping out students, we could observe the difficulty in balancing school and work; the desire for financial independence; the shyness and the excess of failures. We also observed successful trajectories of students in this institution, in connection with differentiated teaching initiatives, although recognizing the fatigue generated by school activities. The results indicate the need to listen and recognize the peculiarities of High School students.
