AGLIARDI, Delcio Antônio; AREOSA, Silvia Virginia Coutinho  y  GRAEFF, Daniela Bertol. Human aging in the Higher Education curriculum of Health and Humanities courses. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2020, vol.25, e204750.  Epub 22-Oct-2020. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v25e2020a4750.

This paper presents an overview of the human resources training in the areas of health and humanities in fourteen higher education institutions in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). It is an independent study taken in 2017/2018 by the Fórum Gaúcho do Ensino Superior sobre Envelhecimento Humano (Rio Grande do Sul Higher Education Forum on Human Aging), called “Higher Education Curricular and Human Aging” (Currículo do Ensino Superior e Envelhecimento Humano). With a qualitative approach, the study aimed to analyze the curricula of undergraduate courses in the humanities and health areas in order to identify if they contemplate the theme of the old age in the formation of professionals of various areas. The survey was conducted through a Google Forms questionnaire sent to professors, coordinators of undergraduate courses, and deans. The theoretical support is based on studies of the Geriatrics and Gerontology areas, which are articulated with the national legislation on education and health. The results show that 162 disciplines work with the theme of aging within 32 undergraduate courses. The teachers of these undergraduate disciplines hold PhD and master's degrees titles and develop teaching plans with an interdisciplinary approach, reflecting the need to understand the old age in multiple dimensions: biological, social, cultural, and psychological. It is important to highlight that the implementation of these disciplines in the undergraduate courses researched took place gradually, more effectively in the last fifteen years.
