Abstract

PINTO, Patrícia Feiten. Educate and transmit a bond with science. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2021, vol.26, e215031. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v26e2021a5031.

What is identified in Brazilian society is a mistrust of the place of science in producing alternatives to contemporary problems, like what happens with Covid-19. In this situation, fake news and socially influential people seem to have more credibility. Even though other perceptions also make sense for human beings and thinking about the conservation of civilization requires understanding that there is an infinite number of ways to interpret the world, what we propose is to reflect on the relationship between science and society. Thus, we seek to understand the concepts of ethics and morals to problematize the inherent place that each of these conceptions has for the formation of new generations. The aim is also to reflect on the bond between new generations and science. The methodology is bibliographic, qualitative, with a critical-hermeneutic contribution. Educating is imposing limits and transmitting tradition, but it is also an opportunity for dialogue and the construction of new interpretations. Even though each human being has their personal beliefs, it is necessary to form individuals who understand the place occupied by science in the human world. Although there is no guarantee that the new generations will develop a bond with science. Education must take responsibility and devise attempts so that some significant link with this knowledge is produced. There is no point in transmitting knowledge to students if they do not understand its place in the public sphere.
