This article is aimed to expose the particularities of the Maestría en Investigaciones Humanísticas y Educativas (Master’s in Humanistic and Educational Research) of the Academic Unit of Higher Teaching of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas, Mexico, in terms of its research training project, cataloged within the Sistema Nacional de Posgrados (System National Post Graduate Program National System, belonging to the Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (Mexican National Council of Science and Technology). The qualitative methodology is considered, since it analyzes the contents of various texts of scientific articles, books and other sources from Maestría en Investigaciones Humanísticas y Educativas documents. The applied method favored grouping the information into three axes that defined the course of the work: introduction, which shows an overview of the investigative reality in Mexico researcher and educational researcher characterization; and research definition. According to the results obtained, it was found that the Maestría en Investigaciones Humanísticas y Educativas must reinforce its strategies in the training of researchers and, for greater certainty, follow up the program students research path to corroborate the successes, failures and pending challenges.
