The study sought to understand the dynamics of the teaching internship in postgraduate programs linked to the Health and Biological Sciences from a federal public university in a city located in the state of Minas Gerais and its implications for the college professor education process for higher education, from the students’ perspective. From a descriptive and qualitative investigation, in which the semi-structured interview for data collection and content analysis technique were adopted it was possible to affirm the lack of a standardization in the structure of the teaching internship of postgraduate programs linked to that area of knowledge. Among the activities developed during the internship, the monitoring of supervising professors and teaching with emphasis on lectures, mostly devoid of reflective analysis of these actions. From the perspective of the students who participated in this investigation, the teaching internship has contributed to the training of future college professors, especially because it collaborates with social skills by enabling their relationship with undergraduate students and with the teaching environment, thus being able to favor in the process of development of the professional identity.
