This article intends to present the results of a study involving three public schools in the state of São Paulo that joined the full-time education in the city of Presidente Prudente. Six beginner members of the school management team (principal, vice-principal and general coordinating teacher) participated in the study. It aimed to understand challenges faced in practice by beginner managers of the Full-Time Education Program in the state of São Paulo. The guiding reference that supported the production is based on studies related to school management and full-time education. In methodological terms, it is qualitative research, whose data collection instruments were a questionnaire and semi-structured interview. Data analysis was guided by the interpretive descriptive approach. The results showed that the main challenges faced by beginners concern the following aspects: financial, bureaucracy, family-school partnership, training and learning.
