Abstract

CAMARGO, Isabel Camilo de  and  GOMES, Aguinaldo Rodrigues. Society projects: reflections on the Base Nacional Comum Curricular (Brazilian National Common Curricular Base) and the education under construction in Brazil. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2022, vol.27, e225577. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v27e2022a5577.

This article aims to reflect on the education proposals within the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base for High School, enacted in 2018 to clarify the political and economic intentions and positions for education existing in this document. To achieve these goals, we firstly sought to understand the main characteristics of contemporary occidental society and its outcomes in people’s daily lives. This discussion is important to analyze what type of society the current education proposal is building or aims to build. Secondly, we analyze the composition and main perspectives implicitly and explicitly present in the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base. We used the works of Bauman, Han, and Ball as frameworks to reflect on contemporary society. This is a qualitative study, carried out through documental analysis of the Brazilian National Common Curricular Base, by relating it to pedagogical perspectives. Reflecting on the society we live in is important to think about what education we want for our young people.
