The objective of this research is to analyze a pedagogical experience carried out with elementary school students (early grades), through two workshop-classes, during the period of September and October 2015, towards education for leisure and in a cultural perspective. When subjects are encouraged to consume technological products, such as games and toys, they are not always allowed to reflect on how they are used, which prevents the creation of different ways of playing, as well as creating toys. In this research, bibliographic and field investigation of participant type was carried out both of qualitative nature. The data were recorded in a field diary, and an interpretative analysis was carried out in order to identify the meanings of play for the research participants. The results showed that the students enjoyed playing with the toys they built from recyclable materials because they had assembled these toys themselves and because of the possibility of playing different games with the constructed objects.
