Abstract

SAMA, Suzi  and  SILVA, Rejane Conceição Silveira da. University and school conversation network: discussions and reflections on the teaching of Statistics. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2023, vol.28, e238489. ISSN 2318-0870.  https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v28e2023a8489.

This paper aims to present how a conversation network established between the university and the school (re)thinks the teaching of Statistics in Early Childhood Education and the early years of Elementary School. This conversation network is comprised of by school teachers, university professors and students, and is based on respect for others and the legitimation of knowledge. Statistical concepts were discussed based on proposals for activities idealized on the network and inspired by the Working Group on Statistical Education — GT12 research members, which belongs to the Mathematics Education Brazilian Society. Thus, through children’s literature, teaching through research and observation of phenomena, statistical concepts were approached in different contexts, which made it possible to experience other realities. The recurrent conversations established between the school and the university can encourage the construction of critical thinking about teaching Statistics.
