This article is the result of Master’s research carried out in the Postgraduate Program in Education, Contemporary Contexts and Popular Demands at the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro, under the guidance of Professor Edméa Oliveira dos Santos, leader of the Teaching and Cyberculture Research Group. The aim of the work was to understand how trans women/transvestites construct their authorship and epistemologies on Instagram. To investigate this, we used online ethnography to follow the practitioners in their daily lives on Instagram. The research ethnographed four trans scientists for approximately one year, observing and analysing how these researchers developed training devices on the social network, constructing authorships that promoted the training of their followers and the formation of an organized structure for the dissemination of trans knowledge. This article will present the online ethnography of Sara Wagner York, a doctoral student in the Postgraduate Program in Education at Rio de Janeiro State University. By observing the practitioner, we sought to understand how cyberculture, its narratives and platformization dialogue with the production of scientific, formative and inclusive knowledge that is built and experienced on Instagram by these trans/transvestite scientists. The aim was therefore to advance the processes of including the authorship of trans women in science, legitimizing its scientific rigor and empowering debates that are so necessary for the permanence of these bodies in academia. We hope that this work can affect the reader and mobilize them to think of this movement as a democratic and rightful process for trans/transvestite scientists.
