The main objective of this paper is to examine the self-assessment process developed in the Postgraduate Program in Education of a private university. To this end, a partnership was established with another program, from a confessional university, to assess the adequacy of the 87 abstracts of dissertations defended in the Master’s Degree in Education, between 2017 and 2020. Based on the self-assessment descriptors, defined by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel, the institutional context was evaluated. The methodological procedure was to evaluate, through an evaluative instrument, the presence or absence of quality indicators of these abstracts. After analyzing the data, it was found that there is a demand for improvement of the abstracts and a need for revision of the evaluative instrument.
