Resumen
WANDERCIL, Marco et al. School dropout and evasion: emergency of active search as a post-pandemic public education policy. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2024, vol.29, e2412077. ISSN 2318-0870. https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v29a2024e12077.
Given the growth in school abandonment and school dropout rates in basic education seen in the two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, the article discusses active search as a strategy to guarantee the right to access education and remain in school. Based on a brief review of the concepts and factors associated with the abandonment-evasion binomial, the text analyzes data from the 2022 Pnad-Contínua and the 2023 School Census, highlighting the scenario of failure and school exclusion of the most vulnerable groups of students enrolled in public school systems. Using the example of the active search project in a municipality in ABC Paulista, the potential of this social methodology for reducing educational inequalities in territories and its emergence as a public education policy in the post-pandemic context is pointed out.
