Education promotes individual, collective, and social development. The integration of teaching, scientific research, and university extension is highlighted as a means to enhance the comprehensiveness of education in its multifaceted potential for national growth. Thus, this study aimed to analyze national provisions for the National Postgraduate System, addressing the projections identified in the National Postgraduate Plan. To do so, documentary research was conducted based on the analysis of the preliminary version of the National Postgraduate Plan for the period 2024 to 2028 – PNPG 2024-2028, specifically focusing on the fourth axis on Research, Extension, and Innovation. It was possible to discuss the previously proposed goal parameters and their promotion for this period. The three objectives that comprise this axis were identified, along with a discussion of the strategies outlined as guiding principles for the success of these proposals. The preliminary version of the National Postgraduate Plan 2024-2028 highlights the integration of technical knowledge into Brazilian society through partnerships and extension projects, with an emphasis on the training of highly qualified professionals. Additionally, it discusses social and technological innovation, emphasizing the importance of accessibility and adaptation of new technologies for different social groups in Brazil.
