MACEDO, Maria do Socorro Alencar Nunes. AlfaRede’s contributions to the portrayal of literacy during the pandemic and post-pandemic. Educ. Puc. [online]. 2025, vol.30, e15369. ISSN 2318-0870. https://doi.org/10.24220/2318-0870v30a2025e15369.
In this article, we analyze the research dynamics of AlfaRede, a virtual research network composed of 33 universities from all regions of the country. The goals are to analyze how this network contributes to understanding the impacts of the pandemic and post-pandemic on children’s early literacy and to identify the main challenges faced by teachers during emergency remote teaching and after schools reopened. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used, including surveys and focus groups. The results indicate that it is impossible to teach early literacy remotely. Thus, for most teachers, emergency remote teaching only managed to maintain children’s connection with school activities, with 30%, considered disconnected, having no access to any form of education. WhatsApp ensured at least 70% of families had a connection with the school.
