Educ. Form. Tecnol. We are convinced that it is necessary to create innovative approaches capable of fulfilling the ever increasing need for adult women, who work or are out of the labour market (whether for personal choice or family reasons), to access educative processes that respond to their concrete needs by taking into account their specific desires and considering their availability and commitments. The first phase of the research involved carrying out 50 interviews in each of the project’s partner countries for a total of 253 interviews, with women aged between 35 and 55. The second phase of the project involved a second research phase during which each partner country examined a series of magazines, so as to investigate what representation and contents emerged from the articles and pieces on the relationship between women and ICT, and in particular on PCs and the Internet. The basic hypothesis that justified the choice of this research method was the idea that a dual levelled vision could be obtained from the mass media dimension: on one hand to study in detail the various representations of the relationship between women and ICT and on the other monitoring which initiatives involve women and their relationship with technology (reported in the magazines and therefore important). The qualitative approach of the research and the importance of using narrative interviews, even though sufficiently well known and common in European countries, required a relatively detailed profile of the researchers who were to carry out and work on the interviews
