We present the results of a survey about the use of a social bookmarking tool with a group of students, most in-service teachers, who attended a master program in Educational Technology at Minho University, Portugal, in the 1st semester of the 2007/2008 school year. The Web 2.0 social bookmarking tool Del.icio.us was used as part of the learning activities of the Research Methods in Education (RME) subject. In small groups, students created an account in Del.icio.us and used the tool to collect, organize and share web resources related to the group task assignment on a selected research methodology. At the end of the semester the learning activity was evaluated through the administration of an online questionnaire. Results point out the potentials of the social bookmarking tool for the development of a research project in education, as it helps not only to tag and organize resources but also to share knowledge and to search new research domains. Particularly important was to verify that the learning experience arose at in-service teachers the will to use the Web 2.0 tool in the classroom with their own students. They even suggested creative activities to develop in the classroom using Del.icio.us.
