Abstract

FRANCISCO, Manuela; NEVES, Josélia  and  ESPERANCA, Cláudio. Estratégias para um ensino online mais inclusivo: sons e imagens para todos?. Educ. Form. Tecnol. [online]. 2009, vol.02, n.02, pp.95-104. ISSN 1646-933X.

Image and sound are all over the Web and are to be found in all its dimensions. Contents are becoming increasingly richer and more complex, and proportionally, access is becoming more and more difficult, particularly for people with sensory impairment. In the present framework, online education, whichever model in use, is based on Web tools, which means that it has all the limitations thereof. In the educational environment, all the limitations gain greater relevance because they determine the educational outcome itself. Even though there are guidelines such as those by W3C that envisage improved usability and accessibility, there is still a reason to question the challenges that derive from the use of images and sound in the educational context and which might be the best solutions to improve accessibility on behalf of students with special needs.

Keywords : Accessibility; Description; E-Learning; Image; Sound.
